Ok so some of what I post won’t save money worldwide some will, some ideas can probably be modified to work elsewhere.
No I’m not going to tell you to collect a million vouchers to get all your shopping for free.
Ok so lets start with Christmas 2012, how can I make it cheaper.
Well let’s start with saving a little money each week, save £2 a week by Christmas you’ll have £100
If you shop in Morrisons or some other supermarkets then put that £2 into saver stamps, if you collect £97 worth they make it £100 so that’s equivalent to 3% interest – Oh no it isn’t as you have only 1/2 that amount on average saved it’s nearer 6% Try getting that on savings accounts.
I also buy my fuel from them every 500 litres gets me a £5 voucher, I use that next time I’m in store and get £5 of stamps.
I look for the £5 off when you buy £40 worth of Shopping vouchers in the papers for Morrisons and TESCOs and use them again I buy saver stamps with what I save.
Over the year on average over the last few years I’ve got 5-6 Fuel Vouchers and 6-8 £5 offs that’s £60-£70 of free stamps !
Another thing I do is to collect the Christmas receipts to get the money off the pre christmas shop, I do know people who scavenge ( womble ) the receipts but that’s not for me.
This year I’ve had 2 £5 offs already
As I read Daily Mail at the weekend I also collect the rewards numbers and have 1 £5 voucher for Morrisons already on the way, I’ll let you guess what that will be spent on. If you collect the vouchers carefully you should be able to get at least 12 £5 vouchers over the year. – That figure is now quite a lot less after the review.
I’ve had a £5 Morrisons voucher 3/3/12
So I’m up to £120 of free stamps, and by following what I do you can easily reach £90 or £100 even without buying fuel.
Tesco are Now doing a similar Offer with what they call top ups, if you have a balance of more than £50 on October 18th October 2012 you’ll get a £3 Bonus, £100 or more will get you a £6 bonus, now as you will be saving £100 over 8 months to get £6 thats actually an interest rate of 12% over 8 months ( assuming you save regularly and evenly ), no UK Bank can compete with that.
Add in the bonus of 10 people winning £1,000 in clubcard points and that’s gotta be worth doing.
I also save my Tesco Clubcard points for an annual Christmas payout ( last year I then used then to buy quite a lot of nice wines )
